T'was the night before Tuesday
And all through the house
Not a person was stirring
But the one touching the computer mouse.

The buckets were distributed
at bedsides with care
With hopes of mommy
showing up if needed there.

The children and Papa
were tucked snug in their beds
While mom hoped for a few hours
to rest her weary head.

The chills and the shakes
have produced quite the clatter
And have mom jumping from bed
to see what's the matter.

The moans and the groans
are not nearly so bad
but they make for good poetry
and that makes me glad.

I'm thankful for sunshine
and cheery blue skies
For walking and play grounds
to disperse all my sighs.

Ps. "good poetry" is of course entirely subjective but I do not want to discuss that any more than I want to clean buckets :)

Pps. I am truly sorry to anyone we might have inadvertently passed this nasty bug to yesterday, if indeed we passed it on.

Dear Overduin Family,

Get rid of this illness
as fast as you can
we are fast approaching
a flight on Air Tran

I remember you being so proud of the fact
that in coming to visit you brought no bugs along.
Now we don't want to catch it while we are by you
and kids puking on airplanes is absolutely WRONG.

Please get better soon
Love The Stapel Family

Dear Stapel Family,

Please take note. The author of the first poem (aka the one NOT sick) and the one who brought no bugs along on the Air Canada flight, are one and the same.

But wow, do you ever write a great poem!

Love you and love you more! Hope you have fun packing and travelling cause we're looking forward to seeing you SOON!

Ps. Somewhere deep down something must have wispered V-day to Steve this morning because he woke up feeling much better ;)

Here's to a Mom that we surely admire
We all know that sick kids can make one quite tired;
But we know from experience that after some rest
They'll thank her quite kindly for being the best!
We hope your family won't pass you the bug
And to you a sweet Mommy we are sending this HUG!

Hoping you all feel better soon!
