Did they Dare?

Did you ever read the (old) book by Stan & Jan Bernstein about the 3 little bears and the spooky old tree?  "Three little bears, one with a light, one with a rope and one with the SHIVERS!!  Did they dare go down that spooky old hall?  Yes they dared!!"

Except more than one of us had the shivers and the tears!  Steve and Leah pranced across it like they are framers and vaulters :)  Once Leah convinced the other kids to dry their tears and try it they decided to trust Steve and make their way slowly across.  A few might have even crawled on hands and knees and/or bum scooted.... like me :)

Looking back.  This tree must have fallen very recently because it was almost completely dry despite the tons of rain even yesterday.  I still got wet sitting on it but it wasn't slippery at all.

Like many other households our children fight each other and love each other... often all within 3 min.  This was one of those love moments as Cam was going through extreme measures to release Cara from the branches and blackberry thorns and hold them out of her way so she could pass through. This wasn't a beaten path and we all felt very adventurous.  Well, most of us did!

Lots of signs of new life and spring on the way.

Cara standing with the roots.

Making our way back... those behind Cara and I were much more successful and confident the second time around.  Leah had no qualms about being in charge of Cody and responsible for keeping him out of the water.  I'm sure her years of vaulting did something to hone that balance.
She sure didn't get it from her mom!! :S

The end was a bit tougher and he felt inclined to bum scoot.... no problem when he got to the hard spot, his sis just scooped him up and plopped him over.

Last two men crossing...

And I'm super thankful to tell you it ended very well with no one in the water.
